There is growing concern regarding the extended closure of the Ladies Bridge. Visitors and locals hoping to cross the Water of Cruden to our wonderful beach are faced with disappointment when they arrive at the damaged bridge.

Not everyone is comfortable with the notion of crossing the golf course to gain access to the beach and many have expressed their disappointment openly believing that the bridge is a vital access route which should be repaired and re-opened without delay.

This however is more easily said than done, the cost of  repairing the bridge to the standard Aberdeenshire District Council have specified will cost around £50,000, and there just isn’t that sort of money available at the moment.

Discussions between the appropriate Regional Council departments and the Cruden Bay  Community Association continue as we try to look for a short term solution whilst bearing in mind the longer term objective of replacing the bridge completely and we hope to see some significant progress from these discussions during November and December 2010.

In the meanwhile many have expressed their willingness to contribute financially towards a fund to help with the future costs of putting things right and numerous fund raising activities are already under way, all of which we will advertise on this website and on our associated facebook page. As you will see we have also created an online donation facility for those who like to give this way.
