Ladies Bridge has been closed since being damaged during a recent severe storm. Aberdeenshire Council closed it as a precautionary measure until the damage has been repaired. An assessment is currently being carried out to determine the bridge's condition, to establish what repairs are necessary and how much the repairs are likely to cost.
At the moment the beach can only be accessed via the golf course. Please be aware that anyone taking this route does so at their own risk because the course is in regular use by golfers and there is a real risk of being struck by a ball. Dogs need to be kept under control at all times and please avoid the tees and greens.
It is not yet known how long the bridge will remain closed. However, Cruden Bay Community Association is actively involved in assessing the damage and is keen to progress the repairs so the bridge may be re-opened without delay.
As we await confirmation of the costs involved in making the bridge safe and re-opening it for public use, we have begun fundraising towards the cost of repairs. If you would like to help, most of the shops and hotels in the village have collection tins where you can make your donation, and you can also donate online here!
Local photographers Slains Studio have produced a set of cards depicting the village at its beautiful best. These cards are available in a number of the villages retail outlets and 20% of the purchase price will be donated towards the Ladies Bridge Appeal. Click here to view the images.
